The U.K. Safety Institute, a newly formed organization focused on AI safety, has launched a set of tools to help improve the safety of AI technology. These tools are aimed at making it simpler for companies, research institutions, and academic organizations to create evaluations for AI systems.

Inspect is a set of tools that can be used to evaluate AI models. It is available for free under the MIT License. The goal of Inspect is to analyze the core knowledge and reasoning abilities of AI models and provide a score based on its findings.

The Safety Institute announced on Friday that Inspect is the first AI safety testing platform led by a government agency to be made available for public use.

Inspect consists of three main parts: data sets, solvers, and scorers. Data sets contain samples that are used for testing purposes. Solvers are responsible for conducting the tests. Scorers assess the performance of solvers and combine the test results into metrics.
