Cleveland Cyberattack Forces City Hall and Erieview Closures, Essential Services Remain Operational Amid Ongoing Investigation

Cleveland, Ohio, is facing a cyberattack that has led to the shutdown of services accessible to residents, affecting public offices and facilities at both Erieview and City Hall.

Cleveland, which has a metro area population exceeding 2 million residents, serves as a crucial center for healthcare, manufacturing, finance, logistics, education, and technology, making it the leading economic hub in Ohio.

The interruption came to light yesterday when city officials announced that public services were limited to basic functions because of a cyberattack.

The inquiry up to this point has verified that the hackers did not access the taxpayer data maintained by the CAA or the custom information managed by public utility services.

The report additionally mentions that critical services such as emergency response, law enforcement, public works, medical services, and airport operations remain unaffected by the cyber attack.

The local government pledged to share information once the current investigation yields findings.
