Employees at the Apple Store in Towson, Maryland, have voted to give permission for a strike. This decision was announced by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ Coalition of Organized Retail Employees, who are the representatives for the workers at the store.

The strike does not have a specific date set yet. The union decided to vote for a strike after a year of negotiations with Apple management that did not lead to satisfactory results.

Based on the statement, the workers want to make adjustments to scheduling practices that they feel are not consistent and to receive wages that are in line with the cost of living in their area.

Apple expressed appreciation for their team members and highlighted their commitment to offering competitive compensation and outstanding benefits. They also stated their intention to engage with the union representing their Towson team members in a respectful and collaborative manner.

Employees at a retail store located in the Baltimore suburbs decided to form a union in June 2022, with almost twice as many workers voting in favor of unionizing. This is part of a trend seen in various industries in the United States, where workers are coming together to advocate for better protections in the workplace.
