YouTube has restricted access to videos of a protest song in Hong Kong following a court decision to ban the song in the city.

"Glory to Hong Kong" was a song that became a symbol of the anti-government protests in 2019. YouTube announced that it would follow a request to take down and restrict access to more than 32 videos of the song that were considered to be in violation of the law.

On Wednesday, people in Hong Kong were not able to watch YouTube videos because they were unavailable. A message explained that the videos were not accessible in the country due to a court order.

The court agreed with the government's request to ban the song, stating that it could be used as a tool to encourage secession.

Local media reported that some residents were arrested by authorities for playing the song in public, but they were charged with other offenses like playing a musical instrument in public without a permit.
