Law enforcement agencies from 19 countries collaborated to shut down a website that was profiting from selling phishing kits to cybercriminals. These kits were utilized by criminals to carry out attacks on a wide range of people worldwide, leading to substantial financial profits.

The Metropolitan Police in the UK recently carried out an operation targeting LabHost, a platform that was created in 2021 to help hackers create fake websites. These websites were designed to trick people into sharing sensitive information like email addresses, passwords, and banking details.

According to the Metropolitan Police, they arrested 37 individuals and carried out searches at more than 70 locations in the UK and worldwide between Sunday and Wednesday.

LabHost has received close to £1 million ($1,173,000) in payments from criminal users since its inception. The London police have identified a number of these users, with a total of 2,000 individuals signed up on the site and making monthly payments.

LabHost announced that they had obtained a large number of bank card numbers, pin numbers, and passwords for multiple websites and online services.

Europol, which is the law enforcement agency for the European Union, worked together with different international agencies such as the US Secret Service and FBI, as well as authorities from countries like Australia and Finland. A statement from Europol reported that four people connected to running LabHost, including the person who created the service, were arrested.

Europol discovered that LabHost was operating more than 40,000 phishing domains, which were being utilized by around 10,000 individuals worldwide during their investigation.

LabHost provides a range of customizable illegal services that can be tailored to individual needs for a monthly fee of approximately $249. Setting up these services is quick and easy, requiring just a few clicks.

Individuals who engaged in criminal activities and signed up for various service packages were able to target a larger variety of organizations, such as banks, postal services, and communication companies.

Europol offers a range of services, one of which is LabRat, a tool designed to help criminals manage and control phishing attacks in real time. LabRat was specifically developed to bypass advanced security features such as two-factor authentication.
